Fabulous Christmas Wedding Flowers Notley Abbey, Buckinghamshire
The week before Christmas saw us return to Notley Abbey, one of our favourite venues, three times in quick succession for a trio of beautiful Christmas weddings. One of our favourites of the year was Lara and Pete’s, expertly captured here by brilliant photographer Mike Garrard who has covered many lovely Notley Abbey weddings. (www.mikegarrard.co.uk)
The colour scheme for the wedding was ivory and silver with a touch of black and it looked amazing! We only met Lara around 6 weeks or so before the wedding so it was full steam ahead to agree how we would decorate the venue and what sort of look she wanted us to create.
We stuck to a simple winning formula for Lara’s bouquet so as not to detract from the elegant ruffles in her dress. A dome of rich ivory vendella roses with lily of the valley worked perfectly.
Lara’s bridesmaids wore black and carried domes of vendella roses with subtle touches of silver from brunia berries and eucalyptus foliage.
The bridesmaids also had lovely silver grey fur stoles for warmth.
In the Abbott’s room we placed two large silver urns on plinths which we filled with ivory roses, ivory amaryllis, ivory antirrhinums, silver grey eucalyptus and wintery glitter twigs. These were later moved to the Monk’s Refectory for the wedding breakfast.
Lara and her beautiful bridesmaids brave the weather for a quick photo in the grounds of Notley Abbey.
The reception took place in the large stone walled refectory with its high ceilings and stunning stone frescoed wall, it makes a stunning backdrop.
We added stems of white lisianthus to the table plan board.
Lara had found some stunning large silver rose bud candles for each table which we surrounded with a trio of silver vases containing ivory roses, ivory anemones with a black centre, white veronica and soft grey eucalyptus foliage. The mix of silver shades and textures with lots of candlelight was really pretty.
The amazing cake needed just a small dome of ivory flowers on top to finish it off.
A wonderful winter wedding to round off a great year for us.
