James and Daryl’s beautiful Cliveden House wedding

by Joanna Carter Wedding Flowers· November 13, 2018· in Uncategorized· 0 comments tags: berkshire wedding flowers, buckinghamshire wedding flowers, Cliveden wedding, Cliveden wedding florist, Cliveden wedding flowers, wedding flowers Cliveden, www.joannacarterflowers.co.uk, www.zoschiazachariaweddings.com
James and Daryl’s wedding was our first in the stunning setting of Cliveden House.  It is a truly amazing venue. An iconic stately home set in beautiful grounds with a view that stretches for many miles.  James and Daryl commissioned us to provide flowers for their pre dinner meal for 60 close family and friends the night before their wedding, for their church ceremony in a wonderful church in Old Beaconsfield and then for their lavish reception for 160 at Cliveden House. Daryl asked for arrangements that were flower heavy with subtle foliage accents and kept the colour palette to simple clean shades of white and ivory.  As the wedding took place in the middle of peony season we were keen to include as many as possible in all her arrangements.  We also included plenty of white hydrangeas, white roses and spray roses with touches of white scabious, white stocks and white delphiniums.  James and Daryl’s scheme was elegant and opulent and was a perfect choice for their wonderful venues.  We are very grateful to Zoschia Zacharia (www.zoschiazachariaweddings.com) for sharing her beautiful photos of the day.

James and Daryl’s romance is a wonderful transatlantic love story full of wonderful traditions from both America and the UK.  They met in Daryl’s home city of New York before a long distance relationship that led to Daryl moving to London to be with James.  They chose the iconic backdrop of Cliveden for their wedding reception.  As well as providing the flowers for their stunning wedding day we were also thrilled to work with them on their beautiful pre wedding dinner which took place on a beautiful June evening in the stylish setting of Cliveden House.  The couple invited 60 of their friends and family to join them for a stylish drinks reception on the terrace with its panoramic views across Berkshire, followed by a meal in the elegant french dining room. The evening and the gorgeous wedding the next day were all captured expertly by lovely photographer Zoschia Zacharia.  ( www.zoschiazachariaweddings.com). A regular at Cliveden, Zoschia’s photos are stunning!     We covered the large mantelpiece in the french dining room with an opulent garland of hydrangea, roses, scabious, peonies, spray roses and stocks       On the long dining tables we placed large cube vases of roses, […]

In the midst of this summer’s stunning weather,  holding your wedding in a venue with a lovely outdoor ceremony area is a definite advantage.  Caswell House (www.caswellhouse.co.uk) is lucky enough to have a beautiful outdoor ceremony area, set in gorgeous gardens that were just perfect in the lovely weather we had this summer. Catherine and Daniel got married at the end of July on a gloriously sunny day.  They held their ceremony outside under the gorgeous cotswold stone loggia, with drinks in the lovely gardens and then their wedding breakfast in the stone barn. Catherine kept to a beautifully classic understated green and white palette with plenty of mixed green foliage.  We used a range of stunning white and ivory flowers including roses, ammi, spray roses, astilbe, hydrangea, eucharis lily, agapanthus, scabious and antirrhinum. We loved the elegance of Catherine and Daniel’s wedding.  A big thank you to photographer Hannah McClune (www.hannahmcclunephotography.com) for these stunning images.   The bridesmaids carried domes of roses, eucharis lily, spray rose and a light collar of senecio foliage to pick up on their soft grey dresses. The couple’s wedding breakfast was held in the light and airy setting of Wenman’s Barn with its lovely […]

Riah and Ed were married at Aynhoe Park in the middle of this summer’s glorious heatwave. (www.aynhoepark.co.uk) Their wedding was a joy to work on, as they were keen to have spectacular flower arrangements in every part of the venue and for each element of their big day.  To take advantage of the stunning weather they held their ceremony outside on the lovely west terrace and commissioned us to make a spectacular arch arrangement tumbling down the steps of the terrace.  We used a palette of white, ivory and shades of soft pink along with plenty of mixed summer greenery. A multitude of different types of rose and spray rose with beautiful peonies and hydrangeas formed the basis of most pieces along with several lovely varieties of eucalyptus. Even the lions flanking the ceremony arch were given bridal crowns! Large Urns at the bottom of the aisle marked the entrance to the outdoor ceremony area and the lovely Louis Ghost chairs had bunches of roses and stocks tied at intervals up the aisle. We created a second smaller arch over the entrance to the dining room and added a stunning thick flower border to Ed and Riah’s table plan   […]

Duncan and Ella’s brief to us about their wedding flowers was to create some drama and something a bit different .  They were keen to use rich colours and to add quirky touches from wheat, feathers and succulents alongside deep burgundy and gold roses and lots of loose, wild foliage. This wedding was such an amazing commission to be given as Duncan and Ella gave us free rein to design the look and feel of the flowers for their wedding reception and just asked us to make sure that the tables were opulent, full and eclectic with nothing too regular or matched.  Against the stunning backdrop of the Orangery at Aynhoe Park, it was a brilliant wedding to be a part of. The flower mix included dark burgundy black baccarra roses, golden mustard roses, scabiosa seed pods, echeveria succulents, wheat, pheasant feathers, burgundy antirrhinums and russet hydrangeas amongst many other flowers.  We used a range of different shaped and sized gold containers and interspersed them with plenty of tea lights, taper candles and tall gold candlesticks. For a touch of elegance we added David Austin’s purity roses to the flower mix in Ella’s bouquet. It is a stunning champagne coloured […]

Sophie and David chose the lovely Ardington House as the venue for their wedding.  Ardington is a stunning stately home near Wantage in Oxfordshire that offers couples exclusive use for the whole weekend.  It comes complete with a beautiful ceremony temple set on an island as well as several acres of private garden and a large marquee. A wedding in June wouldn’t be the same without stunning large headed peonies, so bride Kate’s decision to make them a focal part of the flowers for her wedding last June was perfect!  We agreed a wonderfully sophisticated scheme for Kate and Matthew with large headed blush quicksand roses, ivory peonies, ivory and blush hydrangea heads along with beautiful mansfield park spray roses, blush astilbe and fragrant white stocks. The show stopping piece of the day was the arch outside St Michael’s church in Aynho village were the ceremony took place.  Following the ceremony the reception took place in a spacious marquee on the side of the house.  The large urns we had placed in the aisle of the church were speedily and carefully moved from the church to the marquee after the service and complemented the long top table flower garland and pretty silver goldfish bowl table centres beautifully. Thank you Kate and Matthew for letting us be part of your lovely elegant day.       The large urn arrangements and pew end bunches in the church framed the aisle beautifully and echoed the flowers in the lovely arch at the church doors.     The ushers really […]

Notley Abbey is a stunning wedding venue with a wonderfully romantic history.  It was the former home of Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh and was visited on several occasions by Marilyn Monroe.  The venue is a stunning mix of original features like high ceilings, fireplaces and the stunning refectory all decorated in a clean modern style that makes it a florists dream to decorate! Jess and Omar held their wedding in a stunning local church, St Mary’s in Thame and then moved on to Notley Abbey for their reception.  Jess chose a palette of blush pink, peach and ivory for her wedding flowers and added lots of stunning summery eucalyptus foliage to the mix. The entrance to Notley Abbey is the perfect spot for a gorgeous flower arch to welcome guests so we began all our lovely arrangements there!           Jess chose a loose trailing bouquet of peonies, roses, spray roses, lisianthus, astilbe and bouvardia with thlaspi, eucalyptus and for her bridal bouquet.   The bridesmaids wore lovely sequin topped dresses and carried smaller hand tied versions of Jess’s flowers.     The flower girls had slim circlets of spray roses and hypericum berries with eucalyptus […]

Beautiful Aynhoe Park winter wedding

Aynhoe Park is such a stylish and eclectic venue for a wedding.  Every event we work on there is unique and gorgeous.  The same was true of Kathryn and Crispin’s lovely December wedding . Catherine chose a mix of flowers in shades of deep plum with blush pink and accents of ivory.  As a lover of foliage she was keen to include lots of mixed greenery and for all the arrangements to be textured and rustic.  We were keen to add lots of seasonal touches and alongside the gorgeous roses and hydrangeas, added winter favourites ranunculus, brunia, anemones and spruce. Their wedding day was captured in these stunning photos from Harley and Susie at Barker Evans.  We have worked on lots of weddings with Harley and Susie and adore their photography .  They have a knack of capturing all the small details that matter so much in each wedding, as well as taking photos that show the emotion of the day so clearly. (www.barkerevans.com) Kathryn’s loose, textured bouquet of roses, ranunculus, anemones, brunia, astilbe, spray roses and mixed foliage.         The dining tables featured silver rose bowls on a bed of moss with large silver church candle […]

Sam and Rhiannon’s beautiful lakeside marquee in Moreton, Oxfordshire

by Joanna Carter Wedding Flowers· October 07, 2017· in Weddings· 0 comments tags: Joanna Carter Wedding Flowers, marquee wedding flowers, oxfordshire wedding flowers, paul wilkinson photography, wedding flowers oxfordshire
Every one of the weddings we work on is special but when the groom Sam, the son of one of our team married his beautiful girlfriend Rhiannon, it had to be extra special! Rhiannon and Sam were married in St Mary’s church in Thame on a blisteringly hot July day surrounded by friends and family.   Rhiannon chose a lovely mixed pastel scheme for her flowers with soft blush pinks, warm peaches and touches of lime green.  It was a perfect mix of midsummer colours and looked great in both the church and the marquee.  We were able to source Rhiannon’s favourite peonies and included them in the bridal bouquet and the table centres. At the church Sam and Rhiannon had large urns at the top of the aisle and an eye-catching garland along the rail where they stood for their vows. The bridesmaids carried posies of blush pink roses, apricot lisianthus, lime hypericum berries, astilbe and thlaspi which toned perfectly with their peachy pink multiway dresses.         Rhiannon and Sam’s wedding reception took place in a pretty open sided marquee in the grounds of a local farm.  The marquee was beautifully situated overlooking a lake complete […]
